What Makes a Tyvek® Watertight Breather Membrane Unique?

A DuPont™ Tyvek® watertight membrane can provide top quality durability, protection and energy efficiency for homes and buildings. For long-lasting protection against water infiltration, air infiltration and moisture, Tyvek® breather membranes provides a proven solution.

Tested and Proven Performance

A comprehensive ageing test conducted by the SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden has demonstrated the significantly superior durability of Tyvek® compared to the tested multi-layer products.

Thickness and Quality of the Functional Layer

Most of the common multi-layer underlays that were tested only have functional layers that are ca. three times thinner than a human hair. The functional layer of DuPont™ Tyvek® is ca. 6 to 8 times thicker than most common multi-layer underlays – giving long-lasting performance.

Unique Structure

Tyvek® consists of millions of microfibres in a unique ‘maze’ pattern. Thanks to this structure, UV and heat additives are spread across the membrane evenly to provide superior resistance and durability.

Proven Resistance to UV

Whereas most multi-layer underlays are made of polypropylene (PP), the functional layer in DuPont™ Tyvek® uses a material – stabilised polyethylene (PE) – that resists 100% high ultraviolet (UV) rays and heat far better.

Resists Temperatures of up to 100°C

Heat can seriously degrade the functionality of a watertight membrane over time, and temperatures on top of insulation sometimes exceed 80°C. So for long-term performance and investment security, DuPont™ Tyvek® breather membranes are designed to resist temperatures of up to 100°C.

Made by DuPont – Your Guarantee of Quality

DuPont™ Tyvek® uses a unique manufacturing process that is based on flash-spunbond technology. Every strand comes with over twenty years of experience in the EMEA underlay market and a commitment to innovation and quality woven right in.
