Tyvek® Reflex performs behind the scenes at NU@D2 residential development

Attention to the detail of green building technology distinguishes the NU@D2 development in Northampton by Barratt Northampton as so much more than the stylish modern housing it appears to be on the surface. While the solar panels on the roof are the most obvious touch, a great deal happens behind the scenes to ensure these comfortable high-tech homes hit the mark when it comes to sustainability. The advanced products and systems include DuPont™ Tyvek® Reflex, the metallised breather membrane that offers proven low-emissivity against radiant heat loss.

Designed to protect the building envelope and work together with insulation to enhance thermal efficiency, this durable yet lightweight and easy-to-install material offers all the reliability and performance you would expect from the unique DuPont™ Tyvek® technology. Installed between the timber frame and the external terracotta cladding, DuPont™ Tyvek® Reflex prevents air-leakage and moisture ingress, while allowing for vapour diffusion. This material from DuPont also blocks up to 85% of radiant heat in summer, thereby helping to maintain interior comfort levels.

“We were delighted to install DuPont™ Tyvek® Reflex at NU@D2, a market-leading example of innovative design and environmentally friendly living, and to see that is has helped this residential development to achieve the highest mark, Eco Excellent, with the EcoHomes Standard,” says Tim Smith, Business Development Manager UK & Ireland, DuPont Building Innovations.
