Griffin Wharf was part of a major regeneration programme for the riverside south of Ipswich. An extensive new build housing development, this Persimmon Homes project involved several phases to create over 500 units, including a mix of flats and houses.

The plan also included allocations for affordable housing and public spaces. As with all such projects, compliance with new regulations means aiming for stringent energy-efficiency targets, and therefore careful planning and the specification of durable, reliable, high-performance products.

Advanced membranes from DuPont had been selected for the building envelope of the timber framed, brick clad structures, with DuPont™ Tyvek® Supro installed on the pitched slate roofs and DuPont™ Tyvek® Reflex, one of the new metallised breather membranes with high-reflectivity (low emissivity) installed in the walls.

This combination of air-tight, light-weight, easy to install membranes is designed not only to protect the building envelope, but also to significantly enhance the thermal performance of the building, thereby improving interior comfort and reducing the carbon footprint.
