Fire Safety and Performance at the Heart of New Cardiff Education Project

Project: Fairwater Community Campus, Cardiff

The £110 million Fairwater Community Campus is a landmark development in Cardiff’s educational landscape. Bringing together three new-build schools—Cantonian High School, Riverbank School, and Woodlands High School—on a single, integrated site, the project is the largest of its kind under the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme.

Delivering Excellence in Fire Protection and Building Performance

As part of this ambitious project, Borley Engineering Services Limited (BESL) leads as the main contractor, with Millisun Ltd appointed for brickwork. Through our distributor, Encon Cardiff, the DuPont™ Tyvek® team was introduced to Millisun to provide technical support and product guidance throughout the build.

To meet stringent fire safety regulations and ensure long-term building performance, Millisun selected DuPont™ Tyvek® FireCurb®, our advanced fire-retardant breather membrane. Installed across various elements of the building envelope, FireCurb® was complemented by DuPont™ Tyvek® FlexWrap EZ to seal around penetrations and prevent water ingress—demonstrating a holistic approach to moisture management and fire safety.
