High-Performance Turbo Hoses

DuPont™ Vamac® ethylene acrylic elastomers are chosen by automobile engineers to extend the life of turbo/intercooler hoses. Vamac® exhibits high resistance to oil and grease (as well as blow-by gas and exhaust gas condensates),  excellent dynamic and damping  properties, low compression set values, and high performance in Compressive Stress Relaxation (CSR) testing.

Vamac® can withstand internal exposure to extreme heat and oil-laden air (220°F), while resisting continuous operating temperatures of up to 330°F, with peaks up to 392°F. Vamac® also resists cold temperatures as low as –40°F.

Compounds of Vamac® offer an excellent combination of properties, enabling cost-effective molding of turbo air induction ducts. Other applications include heavy-duty engine cooling system hoses, which have service life goals of 620,000 miles.

Heavy-Duty Industrial Hoses

DuPont™ Hytrel® TPC-ET Thermoplastic Polyester Elastomer is found in many heavy-duty industrial applications, such as hoses and tubing. Hytrel® offers a combination of flexibility, light weight, and resistance to chemicals over a wide range of temperatures, all at a cost that is less than vulcanized rubber, with additional advantage of usable regrind.

Hytrel® has also been used for hose applications, such as hydraulic and paint spray hose. As a cover, Hytrel® offers excellent resistance to abrasion and weathering. In fire hose and other lay-flat hoses, Hytrel®, which is thinner than a vulcanized rubber tube, can make hoses lighter and easier to handle. Hytrel® can be also used in SAE100R7 and R8 thermoplastic hydraulic hoses, which offer the advantages of lighter weight and a wider color selection than steel-reinforced rubber hoses.

Hytrel® is used in demanding applications, where mechanical strength and durability are required in a flexible component. Some of the industries where Hytrel® thermoplastic hoses and tubing are found include: automotive, fluid power, electrical/electronic, wire and cable (including fiber optics), and off-road transportation equipment. Hytrel® is available in a full range of Shore D hardnesses (30D to 82D). Special grades include heat-stabilized, flame-retardant and blow-molding. Concentrates include black pigments, UV protection additives, hydrolysis-resistant additives, heat stabilizers and flame-retardants.
