Setting Global Standards in Cut Protection
Every day, workers all over the world rely on products made of DuPont Kevlar® fibre to help provide proven cut protection against broken glass, metal shards, or razor sharp machinery while helping them maintain the comfort and dexterity needed for complex tasks.
This innovative fibre is five times stronger than steel on an equal weight basis, making it ideal for applications where premier cut protection is a top priority – for example automotive, manufacturing, construction, aerospace and electronics industries. And because it’s fire-resistant too, DuPont™ Kevlar® fibres offer dual hazard protection in a single garment or glove. Kevlar® is also used in gloves for the protection of workers in the chemical industry. Kevlar® can be used with nitrile, PVC, rubber and other coatings to help increase the cut resistance and toughness of chemical gloves.
Products made of Kevlar® comply with global standards for cut protection, which can give greater peace of mind when ordering or using. We also test them extensively at our leading edge Cut Lab to verify their performance, and to help our scientists and industry partners develop even better solutions for tomorrow’s challenges – for example, by making them even lighter or more versatile.
Beyond cutting-edge fibres, DuPont is a leader actively working to address global cut protection standards in various regions of the world.
Best known for its use in ballistic and stab-resistant body armor, Kevlar® brand aramid fiber is credited with helping to save thousands of lives. Lightweight and extraordinarily strong, it’s used to make a variety of clothing, accessories, and equipment safer, more cut resistant and durable.
