Tyvek® protects your assets

With a protective barrier built into the material, Tyvek® coveralls help ensure that users enjoy efficient, high-performance protection at all times. Tyvek® has an ultra-smooth surface that repels low concentrated inorganic liquids and aerosols while discouraging solid particles from adhering. Tyvek® coveralls also pass type 5 protection against solid particulates (EN ISO 13982-1), with extremely low inward leakage levels.

Tyvek® coveralls combine superb protection and rugged durability with relaxed comfort. The unique manufacturing process used for Tyvek® makes the material fabric permeable to both air and water vapour. Extremely lightweight (42g/m2), soft and supple, Tyvek® garments are designed to offer users considerable freedom of movement. Thanks to its single-layer composition, Tyvek® is also extremely resistant to abrasion and tearing.

DuPont offers a wide range of category III chemical protection solutions for most surface treatments and coating work requiring type 5, 6 or 4, 5 and 6 protection: Tyvek® Industry, Tyvek® Classic Xpert, Tyvek® Classic Plus, Tyvek® Dual and Tyvek® accessories.

Industry tests such as the “crater test” (used in the automotive industry) have shown that garments made of DuPont™ Tyvek® do not release substances liable to damage coatings. Because Tyvek® garments are made of extremely dense, continuous and tough polyethene fibres, they do not shed or release surface-damaging compounds, thereby minimising the risk of surface contamination while they are being treated. Furthermore, Tyvek® coveralls help protect surfaces from contamination caused by operators’ hair, skin and particles from clothing worn underneath protective garments. The combination of the Tyvek® garment’s smooth surface and the antistatic treatment helps prevent particles from adhering.

Enhanced protection: Tychem® F garments and accessories
For protection when using a broad range of toxic solvents or isocyanates (for example, during preparation or mixing stages), DuPont offers its range of Tychem® F lightweight, tough, high-performance garments and accessories (sleeves, apron, gown and slip-retardant overboots). Tychem® F also helps offer protection against biological risks, a broad range of highly concentrated inorganic chemicals and numerous organic chemicals and solids. Tychem® – like Tyvek® – is very lightweight and low-linting. It is also tear- and abrasion-resistant and contains no fillers or binders liable to be released by the fabric. For hazards from organic solvents such as aromatic compounds and aliphatic hydrocarbons, the use of a Tychem® F protective coverall should also be considered.
