The newly-certified products include Tychem® 6000 F gowns (model PL50) and Tychem® 6000 F aprons (model PA30L0) for use in agriculture, preferably in combination with a Type 4, full-body chemical protective coverall, to protect workers handling phytosanitary products.
The phytosanitary risk
The use of phytosanitary products for protection against parasites is an indispensable part of integrated farming, yet they can also constitute a significant health risk to those who handle them.
The risk of contamination is especially high among individuals directly exposed to such products during the preparation or application of spray mixtures, the emptying and cleaning of equipment, or in the event of a spray malfunction.
Authorities’ advice on the appropriate measures to take to prevent risks of exposure includes:
• Selecting the least damaging phytosanitary product available and the most appropriate for achieving the expected result (fungicide, repellent, insecticide etc.).
• Checking and reading the
• Systematically wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when preparing the treatment (gloves, goggles, mask, waterproof or chemical permeation resistant coveralls, boots, etc.).
The protective solution from DuPont
For protection during limited exposures to phytosanitary products, DuPont recommends the combination of
These accessories deliver the optimum balance between protection and comfort for the most exposed body parts. Tychem® 6000 F is a material used for chemical protective clothing, conforming to EN 14605 (Partial Body Type 3), that offers chemical protection against many organic and highly concentrated inorganic chemicals under pressure, abrasion-resistance
The accessories are intentionally designed for single-use to provide wearers the maximum in protection each time they are exposed. This is in contrast to long-term coveralls, made from cotton or polyester that, despite having the benefit of being reusable after washing, can possibly lose their protection efficiency
The newly-certified Tychem® 2000 C and 6000 F protective accessories, when used in combination with chemical protective clothing, can offer enhanced protection of those body parts that are more exposed to hazardous substances in a range of applications. They are ideal for use in laboratories, the chemical, nuclear and pharmaceutical industries, paint shops and also in some clean-room environments and include close fitting sleeves, standard aprons, sleeved aprons with back fastening (in the style of operating theatre gowns), and boot covers with slip-retardant soles.
