Peldon Rose chooses DuPont™ Corian® solid surface to create the right impression at Tullow Oil’s new ‘work-friendly’ headquarters
When independent oil company Tullow Oil re-located their offices to a new 132,000 square foot space in Chiswick Park (London, UK), Peldon Rose designed a scheme that would not only reflect the company brand, but also embrace the ethos that “people come before bricks and mortar.” This human-friendly design includes carefully laid out workstations, staff health and recreational facilities, meeting rooms and an elegant reception area with sensuously curved DuPont™ Corian® solid surface panelling.
According to designer Cara Rodrigues of Peldon Rose, “The design philosophy behind the new space was to create an exciting workspace and an energetic, flowing environment with emphasis on Tullow Oil’s global relationships. There was also a strong focus on environmentally sustainable materials and products.”
The dramatic, sweeping waves of the reception area welcome staff and visitors with the sleek, pristine freshness of Corian® in Glacier White. Thermoformed and appearing seamlessly joined to create this monolithic impression, the material has also been milled in strips and then backlit to exploit its translucency and create the diffused illumination effect.
DuPont™ Corian® solid surface was specified for this application, says Cara, “because of its aesthetic and performance values. We knew we could have confidence both in its longevity and in its flexibility to achieve the shapes and seamless finish we were aiming for.”
Corian® offered many of the appropriate properties for this project. It adapts to advanced fabrication techniques but it also performs in application to the highest standards. Naturally strong, stain-resistant, and easy to care for, Corian® surface requires no sealants or treatments and is easily cleaned and maintained. However, should any accidental damage occur, the material can also be restored to full beauty, rather than be replaced or discarded.
DuPont™ Corian® also has independent certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® Green Building Rating System as well as GREENGUARD® for having no negative impact on indoor air quality.
