Design a Bathroom for your Home with Corian®
Following a few simple planning tips can help you get beautiful results when you design a bathroom with DuPont™ Corian® solid surface.
Step Back and Take Stock
The first thing you need to understand about designing a bathroom is The Why, as in, “why exactly are you doing it?” Assess precisely what’s working and what’s failing in your current bathroom. Is the look dated? Are the fixtures looking in need of updating? Is the goal to increase the value of your home, or are you in your space for the long term and purely interested in satisfying your own aesthetic aspirations and practical needs? Clearly understanding your own motivations and aspirations is critically important when designing a bathroom.
Scope the Job
Is this a facelift or a complete renovation? Are you looking for a larger bathroom? Have the children left home? One of their old bedrooms could make for a splendid bathroom. If your bathroom is spacious, would the addition of a new fixture make all the difference? For example a stand-alone shower in addition to the full bath?
Bring Out the Tape Measure
Understanding what can be achieved within the limits of your space is essential when designing a bathroom. Measure out how far out each item protrudes, and be certain doors and cabinet drawers can open freely.
Be sure there is space for everything that the bathroom will be used for, including washbasin, bathtub, shower and any vanity units. Based on these dimensions, and your sketch, you’ll arrive at a rough estimate of the Corian® surface needed.
No matter whether it’s a simple cosmetic update or a complete renovation, Corian® solid surface is your best friends when you’re designing a bathroom for your home. Stunningly beautiful and having performance characteristics that make it perfect choice for bathrooms, cloakrooms, and en-suite bath or shower rooms, this surfaces can make planning your bath project a positive pleasure. To make matters even simpler, you can also choose from a wide range of Corian® bathroom basins.
Bathroom tops and bathroom basins made with Corian® solid surface give your bath a luxurious look that is both warm and inviting. The exquisite-looking surface is also non-porous, easy to clean, requires no sealants, and, with proper cleaning, does not support the growth of bacteria, mould, and mildew.
Performance Advantages over Marble and Tile
Durability and maintenance are key concerns when designing a bathroom. Unlike cultured marble, basins, bath and shower surrounds made from Corian® won’t chip or crack. Unlike tile, these surfaces have few seams and are silicone sealed rather than requiring grout. Fewer seams mean that there are fewer places for limescale and other residues to collect. Corian® also wipes clean, saving you from endless scrubbing. For more information, see How to care for Corian®.
